Frequently Asked Questions

  • The first session is dedicated to understanding your current situation and any difficulties or concerns that you wish to address. You will be asked a number of questions relating to your history, and relevant details about your mental health and personal circumstances, which will be used to guide an effective therapy approach and treatment plan.

You can choose to disclose however much information in this session as you are comfortable with. It will also be a good opportunity to determine if there is a ‘good fit’ between the psychologist and yourself.

  • You do not need a GP referral to make an appointment. However, if you would like to access Medicare rebates, a GP referral is required.

If you are referred through a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, you are entitled to 10 claimable sessions per calendar year. The rebate for each session is $93.35. Please bring a copy of the referral letter and MHCP along to your first appointment, or email to the clinic prior to the appointment.

Private health rebates can also be claimed if psychological services are accessible under your level of cover. Please contact your health fund to check if you are eligible.

  • Numerous clinical trials have illustrated the efficacy of telehealth across various mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, disordered eating, chronic pain, trauma, and gastrointestinal conditions, among others.

Psychological and hypnotherapy treatments provided using telehealth have been found to be as effective as face-to-face consultations, achieving similar outcomes in terms of symptom improvement, client satisfaction, and the therapeutic relationship.

    The benefits of telehealth are:

    • No travel to your appointment and more convenience with fitting sessions into your busy life

    • Accessing therapy from the comfort of your own home can often mean more openness during sessions, as you feel relaxed in your own space

    • It ensures continuous access to care so you can focus on your wellbeing without interruption from illnesses or difficulty leaving the home

For telehealth consultations, you will need access to a quiet, private space (sometimes in a car can be a good option if no space at home is suitable).

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule, we require two full business days notice of a cancellation, prior to the day of your appointment otherwise the full session fee will apply.

A business day is considered any normal weekday (Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm), other than a NSW public holiday or office closure period. A business day does not include the day of your appointment.

When you book a session, that hour is allocated to you. If you do not attend your appointment or fail to cancel within 48 hours (or 2 business days), you will be charged the full fee for the session. We understand that some unanticipated events happen, and we ask that you consider changing to a telehealth appointment instead to prevent a disruption to your treatment.

However, if you absolutely cannot attend, please contact the clinic as soon as possible so that we can allow someone else to fill your appointment. Rebates are not available for payments on late cancellations. This cancellation policy is in place so we have adequate time to offer the appointment to other clients in need of support.
